India has been regarded as a sacred nation with spirituality pervading among the people in the country. The Nation has many holy rivers across the country which energized the people with development of moral and cultural values. Many great men, artists, poets, Gnanis, Scientists and patriots have been born in the country and they have been greatly instrumental in removing the ignorance of the people and developing in them noble qualities like bravery, spiritual values and love for fellow-beings. Out of these eminent personalities Swami Vivekananda was one and let us have a short look at his life history.

     Vivekananda was born at a place called Simla on the northern part of Calcutta, now Kolkatta, on January 2nd 1863. His parents were Viswanath Datta and Bhuvaneswari Devi. He was named as Veereswara and his pet name was Bhiley. The house maid who was engaged to take care of him used to tell the boy stories on topics like devotion and bravery and this had a great impact on Bhiley’s mind.
